As for replacing the heater core, it was done by a local shop a few years
ago; A terrible misdiagnosis. I noticed I was losing coolant in the
car..shop said it was the heater core. It was the head gasket. It's amazing
how long a car will run with a blown head-gasket. I even drove her to 8
hours to VIR, participated in all my sessions and drove home and it still
ran fine. I sure was an ignorant fellow. Eventually, the gasket
completely failed providing me with a great educational opportunity. After
pulling the head, having it welded, and reinstalling, I try to maintain all
of my car myself now...
Thanks everyone for the replies.

Richard,
As stated, disconnect vents left and right under the dash.
If you are just raising the heater box & blower assembly a "little" to
remove the blower, the red and blue electrical connectors can probably stay
connected.
The rubber duct connector can probably stay in place but check it when you
are done.
The only tool you may need is a heavy piece of carpet to place on top of the
engine so that you can carefully climb aboard and yank that sucker up.
It will come, but clearance is minimal.
You may ask yourself, "Why not just do the heater core whilst I'm going thru
all this trouble?"
Good luck!
