Wow, that was the most traffic I've seen on the list for a while!
Thanks to all that replied, I think MN seems a bit simpler than some of your states.
There is no lien on the vehicle, and here you just sign the back of the title over to the buyer, and the buyer can sign a tear of piece of it that you get to keep. You can go online and fill out a form that informs the state that you sold the car.
I'm not quite sure why I would need to check that the buyer has insured the car, if I have proof that they purchased it from me.
Electronic bank transfer seems to be the way to go, although if I could get him to buy a cashiers check from the same large bank I use, they should be able to verify that when I go deposit it with no delay, right?
Since it looks like the Passat is going to sell first, and I need to change the seals on the rear diff anyway, anyone got a torsen rear diff they want to sell me for cheap? :)
