[s-cars] Rear brake R&R success!

Hey all,

With the collective wisdom of this list and a random hookup of barely used rear calipers (an off-lister who has a wrecked Cashmere 95.5 avant with recent brake job!) I am back up and running (actually stopping!) as of Tuesday morning. I tell you, two days without a car feels like a life sentence! Thanks to all who chimed in and guided me through. The culprit was a combination of factors, including a stuck guide pin on both carriers. With new rotors and what look like new factory calipers/pads for cheap, I'm braking with a firmer pedal, and better overall balance and stopping power. Who woulda thunk?

I do have a question though.....are all DOT 4 brake fluids fairly similar for everyday non-track use? I was forced to flush and bleed with a non-Pentosin/Audi DOT 4 brake fluid. Funny thing is, my pedal has never felt better.....and I bled it the same way a few years ago when replacing my brake lines. Just want to make sure I'm not eating away at some precious seals within the hydraulic system.

Thanks again.....
