JHM whatever. The link by Cody shows all the parts and prices. You've
picked a super "FULL PLUS" bundle by one particular part vendor in the
biz of selling lots of parts where it looks like they've tossed in
anything vaguely they could think of excusing doing at the same time.
And you will note I agreed with replacing more stuff than less so don't
put up a straw man there, however there are examples of things being
tossed into those kits that may not even be wear items and/or can be
done from above later if/when necessary, so its not false economy to not
necessarily thrown the house at it and replace stuff that may be
perfectly fine and easy to do later.

And yeah this exactly the anecdotal "my friend had a / i new a guy / I
saw a post on the internet" stuff that the smart folks know to discount
against statistical information regardless of the car involved...
(as well as what does "it was toast" mean? does that mean not worth the
cost of the timing chain service vs. a used motor? that's what a lot of
guys turn out to mean... or does it mean that valves really tapped
pistons... when I was researching these I chased down a number of "my
motor was blown" stories on these cars that turned out to be "well
dealer said it was going to be $8-10k to do the job so I consider the
engine blown" - that's all well and good for the guy making the call but
there's a factual difference between junked engine internals and just
the same core problem that we are talking here w/ the timing chain
systems needing to be done. )

And again - note I'm still with the idea to stay away from these unless
they are super cheap or done already.

Just saying lets stick to facts, and facts are it's not the
Hindenberg-crashes-into-Titanic disaster that some make it out to be
either in terms of frequency especially and to a lesser degree the total
cost.
