Wow, guess personal experience and that of a close friend of mine don't count then?

Granted I'm sure there are other timing chain kits out there, the point is to replace everything that's a pita to replace while you have the motor out.  That runs into a decent piece of kit.

Friends motor was destroyed, to the point that he's currently swapping a 2.7t motor in.

This is a maintenance item that *all* the s4 v8's need.  It's an expensive job that you proactively need to do as you get little to no warning before something very bad happens
