[s-cars] 95 S6 B-Pillar IR Receiver

Can these receivers be reprogrammed to a different key?  Can I take one 
off a parts-car and reprogram it and use it on my S6?  I have one that 
is broken (cracked open on the back - don't ask) and I'd like to be able 
to unlock the car without having to insert the key every time but I 
don't know if the IR signal from my keys can be programmed to be read by 
the receiver from another car.

Any/all list wisdom welcome.
