does the fan come on at all?
i had an issue with my 200q20v where the fan would come on for like a second, then cycle on and off every few seconds. turned out to be a bad thermo switch (aux fan switch). connects to the radiator.

The easiest path to determine if it's your fan or something else is to jump the fan relay. On the fan relay, use a small jumper wire to bridge the 30 and 87 terminals.
If the fan runs, you've got a sensor or wiring issue. If it doesn't run, verify voltage at the fan itself when you jump the relay (will probably be there). If there is voltage at the fan but it doesn't run, it's shot.

Okay guys,
I've done a bunch of research on the archives and on Quattroworld and am still
kinda confused as to where to start on this......
To recap......coming home last night my Coolant light started
flshing......topped off reservoir with coolant and monitored temps on the way
home, and kept the heat on just in case. Light continued to flash, checked 25A
blade fuse left side of dash (it's fine) and tried to get fan to work by putting
A/C on (A/C has worked fine in the past.) Fan does not come on at all. Drove
15 miles on country road home, oil and coolant temps at or below normal on way
home.
Question I have is.....will any of the coolant sensors malfunctioning keep the
fan from coming on with the A/C on, or should I only be looking at
fuses/relays/fan itself? Without a bin full of relays, etc, how does one test a
relay? I've heard of a "big ass fuse" by passenger kick panel, not sure which
one this is. Also there was a post regarding a blue spade connector behind the
drivers headlight.....any help? Also, any tips on getting 12v of power directly
to the fan to test it? I'm not great with electrical and don't want to short
something out.....
Thanks all......seems like after around 100K miles of relatively trouble free
driving, I'm encountering a bunch of age/miles related BS!
Best regards,
Jim Fleischer
