By the way, I fixed the broken throttle cable clip with zip ties. Apparently the plastic clip is not available individually and you have to buy a new throttle body assembly. It occurred to me that I have quite a few zip ties around the car. Zip ties are the new duct tape.
Really glad I dragged the car home. If I'd told the shop to do the timing belt and CPS replacement, they'd have come back and said the idle is rough and we need to do some diagnostics on it. Then they'd tell me the TPS was bad, and the throttle body needed to be replaced as well, and by the way that'll be another $1k parts and labor.
I wonder if the mechanic broke the clip while replacing the coolant hose.
