Thanks Tom,
Regarding the POS, I ditched the stock coils last year and have had good luck thus far with the 2.0 coils and 034Motorsports harness (I think it's theirs, maybe efiexpress.com, don't quite remember.) I probably should have a spare coil with me......
Um, who is Mance and which aftermarket Ignition switch does he recommend? I've always heard to go with the Stealer part on this one.....as far as the oil pressure switch and oil temp sender, not looking for spares but figured I'd just replace preventatively.....
Thanks for the recommendation regarding possible members around that area....if anyone finds themselves reading this and are somewhere between Colorado and the UP, feel free to speak up!
Oh, and to Peter's suggestion.....Got it already!
Thanks fellas.....

Jim,
I would carry a spare POS for a stock ignition. For a spare, a used part makes sense. I certainly would not buy a dealer part just for a spare. Regardless of your stated preferences for dealer parts, Mance Etheridge recommended the aftermarket ignition switch, and since you would have to remove the camshaft pulley to change the CPS, having a cheap sensor only from Marc at efiexpress.com that you can splice in place makes sense.
The 1.4 Bar oil pressure switch with the black center is 068 919 081 and the oil temp sender is 035 919 521 B, but a check of dealer prices may alter the plan to carry spares.
Perhaps carrying this engine devices map from the QW FAQ might be better or the entire FAQ bookmarked on your laptop.

Checking the member location sticky at the top of the QW forum page could help with some contact information of listers in the UP and along your route. You might not have to get your hands dirty.

Hey all,
Heading to the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) from Colorado in a couple of weeks and taking care of a few preventative maintenance items.....new tires are going on at the end of the week, ordering up a MAF to Turbo hose from 2Bennett, and looks like I've got the typical coolant system failures covered when I did the timing belt 10K ago.....my question is regarding the Oil temp and Oil pressure switches/senders.....neither has been changed to my knowledge, so figured I'd do both when I change the oil.....problem is I've got some conflicting part numbers from my local Audi dealer (figures...) than what the "Things that will fail on your AAN and strand you on the side of the road" bi-monthly reminder states.....anyone have a updated PN's and a good source (dealer only?) for these handy?
My fuel pump and ignition switch have been replaced within the last 30-40K, as well as the CPS.....I should probably have an extra CPS and ignition switch in the car as well, so any wisdom as to sourcing for these would be very appreciated.....thanks!
Have I missed anything?
Thanks all.....looking forward to a little vacation.....
Best regards,
