I had this problem, too. My memory is fuzzy, but I think I just used a really big screwdriver to move the latch. A dowel would be too flexible, and a broomstick handle is kind of bulky, in addition to not catching the latch very well. <br/><br/>Repair was zipties - which is how I seem to be fixing everything on the car these days.
