To all who responded, thanks for the info...
In regards to the wheel, unfortunately it is not either a single or a double
stock allroad wheel....I haven't seen these wheels before personally, but I
haven't necessarily been paying close attention to allroad wheels either.
May not even be an Audi wheel for that matter. The bend looks fixable, I
was more curious as to the dealers responsibilities regarding an obvious
undisclosed defect.
As for the condition of the car....130K miles, clean carfax w/2 owners, no
accidents. $4000 in recent work including a new clutch/flywheel, front
brakes and coilover suspension w/Bilstein shocks...I would have preferred
the stock suspension, but it's fine for my girlfriend. Will need tires for
winter, valve cover gaskets, coolant reservoir, rear control arms, tie rod
ends and a few other small things, but most of it I can figure out myself.
Just under $7K after taxes and fees from the dealer....I think it's as good
a deal as I will get for the condition of the car overall, and it being a
6-speed and all....
I used to have a 2001 for about 8 months before it was totalled for me by an
idot driving too fast in a snowstorm. I loved that car, almost as much as
the urS6 avant i have now that replaced it. Pinballed around in front of me
before t-boning me into the Jersey barrier....hit hard enough to twist the
frame, buckle the roof and jack up the drivetrain....I walked away with
minor shoulder pain. Getting my girlfriend out of a tin can 2002 Forester
and into a proper tank has been on my mind for awhile, and she loves my
S6....so it's a logical choice. And she demands a stick, so there you
go....
I've been on quattroworld already to research the issues I'm getting into,
if anyone has any BTDT writeups of their own or other helpful tips for a new
(again) allroad owner, please send them on....I wish there was a list like
this for them!
Thanks again,
Jim Fleischer
