The auto actually does seem to hold the APR chip just fine, I had a customer who drove his pretty hard and 5 years that I know of.

I have a 2001 Allroad with the 2.7T, but a manual. So this is basically the same car, but a wagon and a manual. I had valve cover leaks onto the turbo which I had to fix. I have had problems with the air suspension, but that is expected and you wouldn't have to worry about that. Other than that it has been a great car. I have an APR chip and stupid amounts of torque, but I don't think the automatic would hold up to that. It is a super nice driving car. This time of year I love the heated steering wheel.

Overall they are great cars, and more reliable then S4s with the same engine because the engine bay is less cramped which helps keep temperatures more under control. I don't keep track of prices on those, but $2000 seems rather low to me... If that's really what they sell for I'm going to have to start looking for one, but I'd be looking for a manual gearbox car to avoid the transmission issues.
