[urq] Dash Speakers

These things were a PITA. For future reference for whoever else wants to do this, be prepared to spend a good hour just disassembling and putting back together.
The vent must be removed for both speakers. On reinstalling the vent on the drivers side, the vent wouldn't line up with the duct, and this was after putting the dash back together, so i had to take it all apart again.
Unless you have a tiny screwdriver, the bottom half of the dash on the drivers side needs to be removed to get in there and get some leverage.
The speakers were screwed into the mesh/casing kit, and i hat to cut some plastic to get the new speaker to mount correctly.
Is just one of those dirty jobs.
Thanks for all your help
Jason

Jason,
The speaker moldings are accessed from below the dash, 2 large-ish screws hold them in place. On my car, the mesh grilles were actually glued into the plastic moulding. I do not know how the speakers were mounted because there were none there when I bought the car, though it looks like they were glued in place. FYI these are no longer available, so be careful! Don't overtighten the screws when you reinstall them, or they will split even more. You might also want to attempt to repair them before reinstalling. Try from the inside of the molding, small fiberglass patch epoxied into place works well.
They are actually easy to access once you've pulled away the appropriate panels. For the driver's side, drop the panel under the steering wheel, then move the vent duct out of the way.

How do i get to and remove these? It doesnt seem like the mesh conver will pop off, and i don't want to force anything that isnt supposed to be forced.
I have the original brown dash.
