[urq] Yoko tires?

Hey all-
Anybody have experience with the Yokohama AVS ES100 tires in 225/50/15 on the 8 X 15's?  Tire Rack has them cheap (seems cheap) at $83 each.  I have two concerns - 1.  You get what you pay for (sometimes-unless they're just plain discounted) do they ride,wear, handle cheap, too?  2.  They're not Z-rated, they're V-rated - and I've grown accustomed to the Z-rated Dunlop SP 8000.  I don't want a soft(er) sidewall on these relatively no-so low profile tires (compared to modern).  But Tire Rack rates both as Ultra High Performance Summer...

Any BTDT out there?

As much as I like cars, driving, etc and as much as I spend on this thing, I don't know why I have such an aversion to spending a lot of dough on tires.  I guess I'm looking for "yesterday's awesome tire" at a big discount...
