Martin,
I just bought one of these exact batteries for my A6 2.7T last night, and I can confirm that they definitely DO have a vent. In fact, the vent comes out the front instead of the side, so you may need to change the vent hose. The Interstate dealer supplied the battery with an adapter hose kit.

Price is still the same. Honestly, if I had done a better job of shopping for the battery I probably would not have bought this. I shopped by phone and found that most places do not list a battery for the new Audis. Interstate had this one listed, but after I bought it I found that it was smaller than the original. I guess that doesn't matter as long as it has adequate capacity, but there are other suppliers that have the proper venting and specs for less $.

FWIW, in my quattro I'm going to use an Optima or Odyssey battery.

Steve

Jon, the battery in my quattro which fits correctly and does not need
a vent because it is sealed, is an Interstate:
                                Mega-tron Plus 72 month
                                Model MTP-91
                                700 CCA
                                875 CA
Price on the December 2001 invoice was $92.00
       Regards,
                Martin
