The adventure is now in full swing. Elizabeth and I picked up the '86 on Saturday, then headed for the border. I didn't want to put my TN plate on it until after passing by the feds (because it's not exactly valid for this car). A brief stop brought attention to the plateless car from a young RCMP. His check of the VIN revealed a clean history (whew!), and the paperwork satisfied him. We had a nice chat thereafter.
At the border, it took a while to find an agent who knew anything about what we were trying to do, or even cared. We dulled a pair of scissors on the red tape, but eventually we got the stamp. The weird part is that none of the feds ever looked at the car we brought in. Every other vehicle crossing into the US got a strip-search, but we could've had a pinto packed with uranium.
Heavy traffic back to Seattle meant that we'd get little else done on Saturday. We got an early start this morning to head east near Mt Rainier, then down into Oregon and Idaho, where we stopped tonight. Looks like we'll be in CO tomorrow evening. Below are some pictures so far, but the lousy camera and lack of decent editing s/w is cramping my style.
Stay tuned!
