The only problem I have with "new" Stebro is quality.
1) crush bent pipes
2) questionable fit etc.
The company used to make high quality units back in the late 70s and early
80s.
I used to have their old muffler on my Scirocco and it was a work of art.
However the new stuff (probably under new managment) is not up to par,
especially considering the price.
>From what I hear TAP no longer carries Scorpion and they have stopped making
units for Ur-q.
Anyone know 100% for sure??
What I ended up doing on my car is replacing the rear box with a genering
free flow SS box of same dimensions... it fit great and sounds just as
good... being SS I'll probably never have to worry about it again, and I get
to keep the nice stock SS mandrel bent pipes...

Subject: Re:[urq] Stebro Exhaust
When I purchased my 83 a couple of years ago, it had the original exhaust
system. The muffler itself had a hole in the bottom of it so I ordered only
the
rear muffler from Stebro up in the "Great White North". I had to call them
again after a couple of weeks went by, but after three weeks it arrived. It
fit
OK, but I had to get the donuts and new hardware from the dealer (no big
deal,
but it would have been nice if it was included, or if they let you know
you'd
have to get it yourself). Then a few months later, after a huge New England
snow storm, I decided I could drive down a four mile long back road that
wasn't
plowed and had a "Road Closed" sign in front of it. "Humph, I have an Audi,
who
needs roads", I thought. The only problem was when the road connected to the
plowed road, I had to crash through a pile of snow/ice at the end of it.
That's when my center pipe cracked. I ended up ordering that from Stebro,
and
again, I had to give them a couple of calls before they finally sent it. I
also
added a test pipe in place of the cat. (I'm still testing it.) All in all I
like
the Stebro exhaust, but not the service. I thing Blufergnugen stocks stebro
too.
