[urq] Does the urq battery sit on the metal floor, or on a plastic platform?

I think there's one point where you stray from the
equation... Many of us _are_ getting relatively
inexpensive batteries for our various Audis, but we are
still getting the _right_ one.

You mention that you bought a different Type. I think
that's where you went astray. Find the right Type at a
good price and you're set.

I found a Type 41 at Wal-Mart for about $39. Still working
great.

I bought a battery for another car once and it did have an
extension on the bottom, but it was only snapped on and was
therefore easy to remove.

Not sure modifying a battery to fit you hole (;-) is worth
the small savings.

Just my 2 cents worth from Colorado

Subject: [urq] Does the urq battery sit on the metal floor,
	or on a plastic platform?

I check the archives and a lot of people are buying
their type 41 batteries at discount places, so I
picked on up Nascar battery at Sams Warehouse. I
pulled out some type D28 battery which was sitting on
a plastic 1/2" elevator plate.

This new battery fits in the whole, but it looks like
I'm going to have to cut things off to make it drop
all the way down. Built in carrying handle and some
flanges at the top ends would have to come off.

I have the urq owners manual and the battery is
pictured on page 70. The battery hold down bracket
seems bolted to the body in the picture but mine
appears to be welded to the body.

Any tips for a neophyte D497 USA.
