[urq] AP Calipers

There is a source, I believe, located in Canada. They sell the AP racing kit, which will fit under the 15" wheels. The big difference, is that their kit comes WITH dust seals, so the R&R typically associated with the kit is eliminated(i.e., disassembling the kit every year or so to clean). I researched this a bit just recently, as the AP kit that I had bought (second-hand, but never installed), turned out to be made for a 5000TQ, and would not fit under the 16x9.5" rims I want to keep on the car. The company's name is KVR, and the guy you want to talk to is Gary(really helpful and nice guy who ascertained which AP kit I had bought, initially...which turned out to be theirs, using the AP caliper). Feel free to give him a shout, however, if you decide you want the kit, please let me know beforehand. 1-800-636-0854

Reason I say that, is that I have decided to retrofit the AP kit I currently have to fit my UrS6, utilizing different rotors, hats, and carriers, and to purchase a kit for my UrQ outright. Gary said he would strike a deal with me since I was essentially purchasing two kits, and he would probably do even better for the both of us on the cost of two UrQ kits, especially if one individual did the purchasing.
Or even more, if others of you all wanted in on the action... Possibly a GB situation. I can look into it if there is interest. Obviously, these kits are not inexpensive but ostensibly, they are one of, if not the best brakes you can buy. Not to mention the fact that KVR's kits eliminate the problem of the lack of dust seals around the pistons. www.kvrperformance.com , thought the kit is not readily avilable on the website. Best to call.

FWIW, I've been lurking for a while. Hi, all. Guess I'll I'd introduce myself. Patrick...(I feel like I'm in an AA meeting...not that I'd know what that's like<ahem>). I'm sure I'll see you guys at some UPG meets in the near future, or at the track.

Cheers,
Fru-T
