[urq] Audi A4 brakes for the urq

True enough, but I am using the Zimmereman cross drilled rotors with the
stock calipers and pads ('cause they were free). The Zimmerman rotors
are only $67 each, and have held up well for the last year.
The A4 calipers are also a single piston (54mm) that match the original
calipers, so no issues exist with the master cylinder's ability to
"push" them. They have the advantage of more pad sweep area, which on
our lighter cars (Lighter than the A4) means longer braking without
fade, and in my opinion, much smoother stops from high speeds.
This combo fits under my 15 inch R8 wheels, and coupled with the 200TQ
rear calipers with Ur-s4 rear rotors, makes for a very well balanced and
effective braking setup.
My thanks go to Scott Justison for the recommendation and rear brake
parts.
I do not use a proportioning valve with this setup, nor do I feel it is
necessary. The car just stops smooth and strong. Plus there are many
A4 pad options when I want to play hard at the track.
My .02,
-Justin Riley

the A4 line of brakes might stop well, they do not wear well, the rotors
get
to wear limits fast and warp easily in normal road usage, plan on
replacing
them every 20 to 40 K miles, that's what we see on street driven A4's by
regular every day drivers, now our client with a blower on his 1999 2.8
A4,
rotors and pads every 15K, we have offered brake upgrades to him, but he
has
declined, he just sucks the straw every year, new rotors and pads...
