Wow!  Not so sure I'd recommend this!  The wires are soldered on for a
reason ... the temp sensor is a low value thermistor, and so resistance
caused by connectors can be significant.  This is precisely why
Audi/Hitachi hardwired the harness ... there's only one disconnect ...
at the F/TCU.  The newer cars have a higher resistance thermistor, so
the added contact resistance isn't significant ... and those cars have a
quick disconnect connector for the IAT sensor.  

If you suspect there's an issue with the soldered connection I'd
recommend resoldering ... but from my point of view, the addition of a
crimped on spade connector is a bad long term fix ...

Getting back to the original poster ... you might want to check the
archives ... your report sounds very familiar ... was it Dennis in
Denver who fought this sort of problem for a long time?  I seem to
recall that he did actually find a cause in the end ...
