[urq] Tire size for Ronal 15" X 8" for '83 UrQ

I just picked up a set of the 8" wide 15" Ronal wheels.  They have 225/50 15" tires.  The tires are rubbing the fender well flare when I go over a large bump. Anyone else have these wheels on an '83?

Is 215/55 15" a good size to go with on these rims?  I need to replace with an appropriate sized tire as I am a long way from home right now with this setup and the tires need replacement anyway.  I may have shipped to where I am staying or have installed locally.

Any recommended tires?  I was looking at going for Conti. Extremes if available in the appropriate size, but open to suggestions.  Looking for a mostly summer tire, but all season are OK, but prefer performance in dry and some wet over  anything to do with snow, as I have a set for winter - these will be summer highway/sport tires.
