[urq] WX head build recommendations

Steve,
I was with Brady last night: we discussed the merit of some 10V heads and
we have a few questions for you:
Is it possible to bolt an MC head on the WX block ?
If not, what are the options for a mild street engine with a custom EFI
setup ?
If he must keep the WX, then what are the drawbacks of this head with
regards to cam, valves, flow, lifters, etc ?

Thanks in advance,

Louis-Alain

Brady,
Before you go ordering big valves, etc. It would be wise to pull the head
and have it pressure tested. WX heads are prone to cracking, which is
terminal. Good WX heads are rare as hens teeth. I might go so far as to
recommend spending your money on an MC engine, which will give you longer
life, especially once you turn up the boost.

Just my .02

Hi All,

It's been awhile, but now that my home computer seems to be working again,
I'm back. And it's good to be back!

It looks like I'll have to pull the head on my 83 urq very soon since the
car puffs sweet-smelling white smoke on startup. The oil and coolant are
both clean, and, for the moment, there are no other signs of impending
doom.
The dry compression test, on a cold engine that had sat all night, yielded
the following:
Cylinder 1: 117psi
Cylinder 2: 130psi
Cylinder 3: 105psi
Cylinder 4: 130psi
Cylinder 5: 122psi.

I've already ordered the ARP head stud kit, and I'm wondering if anyone
knows for sure if a 3B/AAN head gasket will work on a WX. Also, should I
have bigger valves fitted? Anyone have a WR cam for sale??

The car is currently running 1bar boost on a stock
intake/turbo/engine/exhaust manifold, and is controlled by an 034efi Stage
IIc ECU. In the future, I'll turn up the boost, so I'd like to build a
strong head while it's open.

Suggestions?

Cheers, Brady
