...Spent the last 3 hours under the dash. I unplugged the micro switch to the A/C and the problem still exists. So I take every A/C relay and the fuse out, trick the Load Reduction Relay and the rear wiper relay trips off and on. I unplug that relay and the window relay trips off and on. So I'm pissed and decide to put the fuse box back in place, rig the fan up some how and nurse it down to UPG. As I push the sea of wires back I hear the snapping sound of live electricity arcing. I pull the fuse box back down and I see it, a red wire running into a black male blade terminal housing (6 pin connector with only 5 wires in it-pt# 803 971 833A I'm guessing. No pt# on housing). A red wire has burned thru the terminal housing. Upon further inspection, the female blade terminal housing as a hole burnt right thru the top of it. Of course this wire is the female counterpart of the fore mentioned red wire that is trashed. I try to pull the two terminals apart after a half an hour of fighting,
finally get them apart. It's quite possible that the the connections inside the terminals were touching, a theory I formulated after pulling the 2 terminals apart. I may tomorrow morning try to replace the wire itself and see what that does. If i have to I'll jam electrical tape in between the two terminals to see if that eliminates the short inside the terminal.
A question for electrical gurus, if I replace the burnt red wire with a new one could I just quick-connect the two wires together? Do they have to run thru the terminal housing? again I'm sorry for the poor discription whatever this wire does, some pretty strong current runs thru it. Mike C
