Audisport was really careful with regard to *WRC* cars homog, since they got busted badly a couple times with violations the first couple years (inner headlights and extra batteries being two of the most serious). That said, testing these mods on AS cars in regional (non WRC) rally's was pretty commonplace. Also it's well documented that many of the homog A1 cars were updated to A2 specs, audi reused many of the competition chassis over the years. I would expect it to be really hard to find a true A1 spec chassis car, as A.S. routinely updated these machines during post race overhauls. Finding backdating on mods is almost impossible, save for the motors. A.S. went back and forth quite often in the motor specification in terms of displacement. So much so, that there is documentation that FIA techs got confused in the 1.4 equivelency rule.
Throw a lot of paper, and a lot of good drivers at winning, you certainly *should* at some point meet your objective. Have no fear my urq comrades, the Audi Gods threw plenty of wrath at AudiSport in all WRC years of the A1/A2 and the S1. Pissed off Rohrl so much, in fact, audisport had to beg him to come back for 1985.
