That's heat transfer compound. Similar stuff as to what's between the
processor and heat sink/fan combo in your computer. Its purpose is to
eliminate air pockets between the switch and its heat sink, but don't use
too much of it as the grease itself isn't a very good conductor of heat.
You can get some at your local computer parts store, and maybe even at the
local flaps.
