I had a hot-start problem on my '83 (last 3 digit of vin 530) that I
fought for a very long time before
I finally figured out the problem.
There is a spade lug connector near the turbo that is in the middle
circuit from the key switch to the starter solenoid. Indeed,
a stupid place to put the connection - near the turbo! When the
connection gets hot enough the female
side of the connection relaxes just enough to open the circuit. As I
recall I rerouted the wiring away from the
turbo and replaced the connectors - no more hot start problem.
Now, if I could just figure out a way to may to make the damn electric
windows go up and down at a decent pace I wouldn't be
thinking about selling the beast.
