Possibly, but I think the whole thing is slightly tapered, and the major
stress is probably at the very tip where it narrows significantly.  If I
have to do another one, I'll find a socket that fits closely with the
tapered tip.  I wonder if soaking the old seal in some kind of
penetrant/lubricant would've helped break it loose.  There was still
Pentosin residue in there, but maybe the mating surfaces were stuck to
the plastic.  I got no movement of the thing until it suddenly let go.

Hmmm... I wonder if I could salvage this one: cram the new seal in
there, put the broken piece on, then "weld" it back together with a
soldering iron.  I'd rather not, though--it's a messy job, and I don't
want to risk having to do it again any time soon.
