Had the IC out over the weekend. All the metal connections, on the back of it were fairly
well corroded due to 20 years of humidity.

I pretty much disassembled it and cleaned all the electric/electronic contact points. I
almost had the circuit film completely loose from the assembly. I discovered a couple of
traces that had been partially fried. They lead to the brake warning light and the
alternator warning light. These two warning lights still work however.

My gas gauge has always read about a 1/4 tank too low through the range. I found that the
needle appeared to be bent and I think I've corrected that. Without a doubt, I changed
it. It does seem to read more appropriately, but until I start driving the car to empty
and refill the tank, I won't know for sure.

I also fixed the inop odo. I had purchased the delrin replacement gear a while ago when
there was a group buy, but found that the odo gear shaft had merely slipped out of one
end. I got it back in place and superglued a small piece of cut up credit card to keep
the shaft from walking out the one end. We'll see...
