Mike,
Sooo, this is a race huh? :) Hmmm, I have to hurry to finish before the big 4-0 as well (Feb. 10 if you want to send presents).
1. As far as I have found, yes.
2. It is a satin black (01C code I believe). SEM makes some paint for this that seems to match well.
3. Not sure of the brand, but it is a greyish-biege color. Let me know if you find a good match. Yes, the car was painted after being undercoated, as far as I can tell.
BTW, I've gotten the bug to get working on the car. I even got my Spitfire roadworthy last weekend and will be using it around town this summer, although it doesn't make for much of a parts hauler. The quattro's suspension goes for coating this week or next, and the parts for plating will too as soon as I find a place that will do small batches of cadmium plating.
Steve
P.S. In 2007, my car will qualify for collector plates. What are the odds that is gets regular plates before collector plates (or maybe that I qualify AARP card first)?
Well in attempt to complete the restoration of my '83 ur-q before
my 40th birthday, and more importantly before Steve Eiche completes
his. I have restarted the process and have a couple of questions:-
1) What is the paint code for the black part of the trunk lid, is it the
same as the window frames?
2) Along the same lines, what is the code for the window frames?
3) What is the best underseal product to use to get as close to
the factory finish as possible? And was body paint applied over the
top?
Many more question to come, hey Martin do you have any space
to host some pictures?
Cheers, Mike
