Ken,

Make sure you don't have the sensor wires mixed up. It happened to me on MC
swap since harness was incorrectly labeled and I goofed on a continuity
check. Ended up makeing the fault code go away when I swapped the speed and
ref. sensor cables only to find later the original probelm was I had ref.
and knock cables swapped. Very easy mistake to make, as the internal wires
are all the same color and if the color coding got removed as happened on
mine, then need to do a continuity check to figure which is which.

The worst mistake I made in all of this was thinking I didn't make a
mistake!

Refer to: http://ben_swann.homestead.com/MCWiring.html as there are enough
similarities in the systems - particularly with respect to the flywheel
sensors which need to be correct before the ECU will pass a primary signal
to the pre-coil transistor.

Hey guys,

Well we replaced the engine speed sensor and no fault
codes!

Basically I have a no spark situation. All the VAG COM
output tests are good and the coil checks out. I have
continuity from the ECU to the power output stage but
at this point I am getting no voltage from the ECU to
the power output stage and I am not liking what
captain Bentley is telling me. Replace
ECU........OUCH!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ken]
