Don't know if they sell this sort of thing in the 'States - a foam rubber
kneeling pad, usually sold in the gardening section of hardware stores over
here. Size is maybe 6" wide, 12" or so long and approx 1" thick made from
closed cell foam.
I glued one to the wall of my garage just where the driver's door would
touch when opened. My father saw it one day and next time I went into his
garage there was the same thing just where the door of my mother's car would
catch the wall......
