[urq] knocking sound under braking

can someone please have a look under their car (mine's a -88 MB) I'd like to
know how the bushing where the gearbox mounts to the subframe looks
like.(this is the big bushing in the left front on the subframe) There is a
metal cup that holds the gearbox against the bushing, should there be a
2-3cm gap between the bushing and the cup??
I would be very glad if someone could have a look. I tried to tighten the
bolt, but it was really tight and it seemed you could not tighten it more.

I'd tighten the bolt and see. It should be fine, and your pulling will
probably go away as well.

lately I have noticed a knocking sound almost every time I apply the brakes
softly, this knocking sound also appears sometimes when I open the throttle.
The sound comes from the front left. At first I actually thought it was a
loose brake caliper. Today I had a look att the caliper, but the bolts were
tight... then I noticed the subframe bushing; the bolt and the metal "cup"
that presses the rubber bushing towards the subframe was some 2cm off the
rubber bushing itself. I compared the subframe bushing with one at the rear,
and there the metal cup just touched the rubber itself...
Question; should I just tighten the bolt? and how much should I tighten the
it? Or should I change the whole rubber bushing. The bushing itself seemed
to be in good condition and is changed 40 000km ago. I suppose this makes
the knocking sound, any thoughts?
Also worth mentioning is that the brakes pull to the right when I press the
pedal fast and hard. If I press the pedal progressively then the car brakes
perfectly in a straight line.
Has anyone had the same sort of experience?
