Yes, the subframe mounts do wear out over the years. Not at bad as door 
handles though.
The subframe mounts failing happens very gradually in most cases, making the 
cars handling more sloppy as they go.  It would be unusual for them to 
suddenly go from good to failed. 
You had better get the front subframe checked as well, along with diff, 
engine, and trans mounts.
