... the IST docs indicate that the pressure in the bomb is nominally 36bar and goes up to 57bar when the relief valve opens.
I'd say your idea for determining how much fluid the bomb holds would be a worthwhile test. Theoretically you would expect the reservoir to return to the fill to mark once the pressure in the bomb is relieved. You can also check the fluid level over time with the engine off to see if there isn't a leak in the brake servo and/or check valve in the valve body.
