Everybody probably saw Peter Barabas' post to all the Audifans lists regarding the involvement of the new North Atlantic Audi Club (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island) with the Larz Anderson Museum of Transporation's (MoT) German Car Day on the 62-acre lawn at their Brookline, MA facility. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 18, 2006, and this the the chance for the urqs to show up in force and steal the day.
Imagine the reaction if 20 urqs show up (like we had at the UPG gathering last year). Will the Canadians invade again this year? I hope so!
Seriously, the MoT (www.mot.org) is really delighted to see the involvement of an ACNA chapter and the possibility of a gathering of a lot of Audis, including a lot of the original ur-quattros. And maybe Gary can bring his car instead of cooking the whole day--and maybe we can persuade him and Felix to reschedule the annual UPG luncheon.
Membership in the NAAC or the ACNA is not required to participate.
As it's planned now, we'll have dedicated Audi space--even dedicated ur-quattro space, and I gotten a few positive responses already. How about everybody: put this on your calendar and join a big gathering of Audis in Brookline on June 18.
Peter got that message out as soon as the MoT guaranteed us space and before I had a chance to give everybody a heads-up. This is a serious regional event, and there might even be some national coverage. It's a real opportunity to get our urqs out there in the public eye.
I'll put out more info as soon as it becomes available, and you can check the NAAC site at www.naaclub.org for breaking news.
I'd love to have an early count of folks who might consider attending, so let me know either by return email or, better yet, with a post on the urq list!
