Even worse Max, is that you can't trust what the manufacturers' say.

Amsoil swears up and down their oil is safe for the Audi tranny. My experience
on three boxes (hey, I had a case) tells me otherwise.

The BEST oil I have used myself is the Motul gear oil. If you like I can look up
the exact oil I'm using, but it's unbelievably great. I did an extensive
Audiworld post on in it the 90/80 forum in October (or around there).

The second best oil I've used is the Redline MT-90, which has been long
understood by most Audi guys I know as 'the best' and proper oil for the 80/90,
4kq and urq trannies. I know many people using this with no issues.

I've heard the Neo oils are fantastic, as told to me by rally friends and VW
guys...but I have no personal experience.

Me, personally, I won't ever run anything other then Motul or Redline in my Audi
trannies.
