[urq] Wax coating

Correct. Cosmoline is the protectant used for transport across the
ocean. Also sprayed on the engine compartment and often not removed
from the engine compartment when car was delivered. The engine
compartment looks like sh#t after many years, but if you powerwash it
off (keeping water away from electrical components), the engine will
sparkle like new :-) Both are great corrosion inhibitors. IIRC the
wax coatings were actually wax dippings of the entire body before
interior, electrical, engine and associated assembly of the rest of
the vehicle.

Ingo

PS Don't know if they're still doing the cosmoline coating or not.
