I seem to recall that those penny squishing machines are legal because
you are allowed to destroy money if it is for artistic purposes.
However, the squished penny museum says that "Squishing pennies is
legal as long as it's done without fraudulent intent. Of course,
squished pennies no longer can be used as currency."
