Innovate Technology sells a nice wideband sensor that has a configurable output to emulate a narrow band sensor. This is very handy if you don't have two O2 sensor bungs in the downpipe. Due note that you probably want their sensor "insulator" option to keep the wideband sensor from getting damaged. This will allow you to tune the system while still keeping the ECU "happy" with a narrowband sensor. No, you cannot just substitute a wideband O2 sensor for the stock sensor. Only a ECU designed to work with a wideband sensor can use it.

Given the narrow range of the stock 02 sensor, would it make sense to upgrade to a "wideband" sensor (seemingly a popular modification to contemporary cars, especially turbos)?
Would the ECU be able to take advantage of the additional information or would it just confuse the system? Does the ECU (perhaps specifically the fuel map) have enough resolution to respond to the more detailed input?
