 You could spot weld the studs from the top (with a stick welder), clean 
the threads with thread cutting die, and unscrew the nuts. Or drill the 
the hole through stud hut and support and screw self taper into it. the 
rest of the procedure is same. Both solutions require only top parts to 
be removed for access, and in the case of spot weld, can keep the old 
studs, or can change them, in the case of self taper. Spot weld is far 
easier to do.
