Dm*n, you're right.
I indeed supported the engine to prevent a collapse. After the "spin", I
let the engine pull on the studs into their hole, but to no avail. And
remember, with a new (taller) mount on the other side, there is not much
load on this side, so the studs would have spin no matter what...
So, here is the game plan:
- cut the nuts with a torch, or
- drill the studs head from above, or
- weld a nut on the studs head, and grab the welded nut with a wrench
- cut the studs from under with a die grinder
- weld the studs to the chassis,
- order a complete front end sheetmetal and have it replaced
- wreck the car and claim the insurer...
