First of all thanks to all who replied with suggestions, which made me
think! I went back and re-read the StopTech articles and decided that it was
probably not the rotors at all especially as I had been careful to clean off the
mating surfaces before assembly. Like most of you I have taken discs on and
off on many cars without a problem and always like everything to be
'spic-and-span'. Anyway, I just went out and did several successive hard brakings, but
not to zero, from the 50-60 mph range. Went out again last night to try normal
to hard braking from the 60-80mph range and the judder has gone! Just shows
that StopTech is correct when they urge that the pads be bedded in properly
by raising them to sufficiently high temperatures. Guess I did not brake hard
enough the first time.
