It is interesting to see how inconsistent Audi is at times at the level of parts that they offer. Depending on the model the parts system will push you to replace the whole rod or make bushings available. There was a comment that indicated the newer parts have a stronger socket ... but the original part lasts 10 years or more, so it isn't clear to me how much that extra cost is buying ...
A similar situation is the plastic bushing in the cruise control linkage ... most cars show the entire rod as the replaceable module, but if you look at a V8 parts guide you will see a separate callout for the bushing ...
