Andrew,

I've gotten away with snows on a 7.5" ET37 wheel with my coilovers
which have a much smaller diameter lower spring perch, but it was
damned close. A 9" ET40 wheel would probably not clear my perches and
certainly wouldn't clear the stock ones.

I normally run an 8" wheel with an effective offset of 27mm. I can
run a 235 tire that is a tad wider than the 8" wheel w/o rubbing the
fenders, but it's close too. The stock 15x8 Ronal is ET24, but you
have to run a tire narrower than the wheel when lowered to prevent
rubbing.

Doing a little math, lets take my inner limit with my snows and the
outer limit being the stock Ronals. So my snows stick about 135mm
inboard of the hub face and those Ronals stick about 80mm outboard.
That makes a theoretical maximum wheel width of 8.5 inches.

Rich
