But it’ll surely fit over the rears.  That just means a double-swap if
you ever lose a front tire.

Wow ... that's an excellent tidbit to have passed along!  I too am
planning to do the A4 Front/V8 rear brake conversion on my car ... but
there's no room for a full size spare in the trunk!
