Or, one could retain the stock mini spare and then be prepared to do a
double tire change in the event of a front flat.

No matter what, you're not fitting a full size spare of any sort in
the trunk right?

(Vague comment regarding the frequency of flat tires, ambiguous so as
not to attract Audi and/or flat-tire gods.)

Approximately none here.

Just a thought.  A bit of a compromise to be sure, but there's no
perfect solution here.
