If I may chime in, we're talking about some very close tolerances on the plunger, metering
head, etc., which I imagine can be affected over time by wear, contamination, corrosion,
etc. I don't have any experience with rebuilding, though.

Just for the sake of knowledge, how can a metering head be bad? In my
memory, it is a purely mechanical device, so what can go wrong ? What
is rebuildable ?
