Guys-
Following my decision to not use the 944T IC due to alternator issues,
I'm talking to Bell Intercooler about making a custom IC from one of
their stock cores. www.bellintercoolers.com Bar and plate
construction. Dimensions would be same length as stock so that the
alternator can stay put, same height, basically, but make it thicker to
increase flow - go to about 4.5" thick instead of about 2.5". By
looking at their tables, the stock IC looks like it flows about 250 to
300 CFM, whereas my design should be closer to 450CFM. Any additional
cooling would be nice, but really my goal is increased flow as I feel
it's a bottleneck on a chipped 3B w/ RS2 turbo. I'm assuming there
would be very little if any additional cooling. I don't see any reason
it would not bolt right in as I used stock plumbing when I had the 944 T
IC in there, and it is 5.5" thick. I still have a few things to measure
twice, but I want to move forward with this little project.
I don't know if I'll be able to order a bolt-in unit - I'm pretty much
assuming I'll get something as close as possible, then have a local guy
do some tweaking with welder. I don't know.
Any thoughts? Anybody else interested in going in on something? Core
price is $219 - no idea about pricing with endtanks yet. Have not even
asked them for a group rate - but will if there is interest.
