I've always been of a mind that the CSV does more harm than good when
starting ... especially when the "Hot Start Pulse Relay" starts clicking on and
off. Of course, I've never had to start my car at -20C ... I'd bet the CSV is
only helping there!
Interesting that you post what I have felt for some time although
unsubstantiated till now.
I have my CSV hard wired to a manual switch that I use to cure vapor lock in
summer. (very effective FWIW) It does not fire unless I turn it on.
My car normally starts better without it, and I can activate it when needed
such as low outside temps.
Another data point is I have modified my fuel distributor to be able to flow
more at full throttle.
